Early Education
The K-3 program at Mitchell Road Christian Academy seeks to provide an educational setting that will develop each child's spiritual, social, emotional, perceptual, motor and language skills. The curriculum is to be a bridge for those important "first" steps into the world outside the home. Our program is designed to be an aid to parents - God's primary teachers.
Our four year old curriculum develops reading readiness through teacher created "letter of the week" activities and reading books. Fine motor skills are enhanced through coloring, painting, playdough, cutting and fingerplays. In math, we learn to compare/contrast, categorize, graph, continue a pattern, identify shapes and sizes, measure, count to ten and identify numerals to ten. Science and Social Studies are explored through weekly units of study and learning center activities. Our Bible is a series of Old and New Testament stories. It is our intention to teach about God through all areas of the curriculum.
MRCA has carefully chosen academic curriculum that is both developmentally appropriate and academically challenging for our K5 program. Our phonics program systematically instructs children to identify and blend phonetic sounds as well as read high-frequency sight words. Our math curriculum provides a solid foundation in mathematics through repetition and practice. Our Bible curriculum provides an overview of Old and New Testament stories that teach us about God and His creation. Science and Social Studies themes are created by the teachers and teach students about the world God created.
The Transitional First (T1) program at Mitchell Road Christian Academy is for those students who have completed K5. This program is for students who would benefit from an additional year before beginning first grade.
